Alumni Awards Luncheon, Choir reunions headline 2016 ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Homecoming

SHREVEPORT, LA — ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ College plans its annual Homecoming and Parents & Family Weekend for Friday, October 28 through Sunday, October 30. The weekend’s schedule includes several events bringing together alumni of the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ College Choir which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. Members of the classes of 2006 and 1966 will also hold reunion gatherings during the Homecoming weekend.
“We are looking forward to welcoming alumni and families back to campus for a fun-filled weekend,” says Saige Solomon ’05, director of alumni and family relations at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ. “This year’s Homecoming theme, “A Trip Down ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Lane,” is all about celebrating special ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ memories and the lifelong connections that alumni create with the College and with each other.”
The annual Alumni Awards Luncheon kicks off the weekend on Friday, October 28 at 11:30 a.m. event in the Edwin F. Whited Room in Bynum Commons. The event honors alumni who have brought distinction to the College in several areas, including:
Alumni Hall of Fame: Fuller Bazer ’60 (to be honored in absentia)
Alumni Loyalty: Kenneth Fisher ‘70
Young Alumni Leader: Kristy Jackson ‘03
Honorary Alumnus: John E. Atkins (to be honored in absentia)
Athletic Hall of Fame: Dennis Boddie (posthumously), Lacy Crouch ’98 & Robin Rackley ‘98
Bentley Sloane Award: Eric Huffman ‘01

Other Friday events include the popular Gumbo and Cookie Cook Off featuring ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ student organizations, a Ladies volleyball game, and 75th anniversary “decade” reunion gatherings hosted by local Choir alumni.
On Saturday, October 29, Homecoming attendees can choose from Ladies volleyball and Ladies and Gents soccer matches, the annual Alumni Baseball Game, the Homecoming tailgate and Homecoming court announcement, the opening reception for a new exhibit at the Meadows Museum of Art, and the evening performance of the Choir’s “Rhapsody in View” at Riverview Theatre in downtown Shreveport.
The Homecoming weekend concludes on Sunday, October 30 with “¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Sunday Services” at 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in downtown Shreveport. ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ President Dr. Christopher L. Holoman will speak at each service, and a special reception for ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ alumni will take place between the services at First Methodist. Another Ladies volleyball game and the matinee performance of “Rhapsody in View” round out the Homecoming weekend.
