SHREVEPORT, LA — Attendees at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ College’s October 20-22 Homecoming weekend can take a walk down memory lane with a new exhibit presented by the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Archives. The “¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ: 1967, 1992, 2007” exhibit in the lobby of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Bynum Commons highlights three classes celebrating notable reunions during the 2017 Homecoming festivities. The exhibit features material connected to the Class of 1967, celebrating its 50th Reunion; the Class of 1992, gathering for its 25th; and the Class of 2007, marking ten years since graduation.
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Archivist Chris Brown and student worker Olivia Brignac researched and prepared the exhibit using a wealth of material from the College’s collection, including administrative office records, alumni magazines, basketball programs, course catalogs, maps, photographs, posters, student handbooks, student newspapers, and yearbooks. Some themes were traced through multiple years, including the College’s buildings and grounds, guest speakers, classroom settings, and athletics.
“It’s always interesting for me to look though those student and ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ publications because it allows a look into a life that I’m living now as a student and makes it possible to draw comparisons,” says Brignac. “I think that it’s incredibly interesting to find how similar things still are for ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ students now, compared to ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ students ten, even 25 years ago. When it comes down to it, the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ experience is still about connections between people and I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this community.”
Visitors can view the exhibit in Bynum Commons through December 2017 as well as online at .
