SHREVEPORT, LA — ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ College has announced the results of its “31 for 31” campaign, a focused scholarship fundraising initiative commemorating the inauguration of the College’s 31st president, Dr. Christopher L. Holoman. The campaign more than doubled its original goal of $310,000 with gifts and pledges amounting to $674,519.
Holoman became ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s president in July 2016 and celebrated his formal inauguration during a ceremony at the Gold Dome on March 17, 2017.
“I am truly humbled by the enthusiasm for this campaign and the generosity shown to ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ by so many alumni and friends,” says Holoman. “As I approach my one-year anniversary at the College, I am very grateful for the opportunities I have had to tell the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ story in Shreveport-Bossier and beyond. The success of this fundraising campaign to benefit student scholarships is evidence that many people are responding to this message.”
Donors were encouraged to give to the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fund for Student Scholarships in amounts reflecting the “31 for 31” theme, such as $31, $310, and $3,100. The campaign was launched in January 2017 and concluded at the end of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s spring semester. The campaign was kicked off by an anonymous donor who matched the first $31,000 in gifts.
“We are thrilled with the results of this campaign honoring Dr. Holoman,” says Fred Landry, Vice President for Development. “We had an especially good response from ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ alumni, who made up 209 of the 370 total donors. The investments that these alumni and friends have made in the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Fund for Student Scholarships will have an immediate effect on students at the College.”
