SHREVEPORT, LA — ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ held its second annual ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Giving Day on Thursday, February 22, in conjunction with the College’s Founders’ Day celebration. The campaign raised $186,300 for student scholarships and programs, primarily through online initiatives and special giving incentives. Nearly 300 individual donors participated in the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Giving Day campaign.
"We are so grateful to our alumni and friends that made ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Giving Day a tremendous success," commented Fred Landry, vice president for development. "The outpouring of support for all facets of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ is a testimony to the importance the College plays in the community and in the lives of those who have benefitted from their educational and formative experiences at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ."
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ, which will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2025, launched a $50 million capital campaign in November 2023. Forward: The Campaign for Our Third Century, is focused on advancing the sciences – including a $20 million renovation of the home of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s successful science programs, Mickle Hall - as well as providing resources for new academic and co-curricular program, student scholarships, and ongoing operating expenses. The current campaign total stands at $39,500,000+ in gifts and commitments.
The Friends of Mickle Hall Society, a special giving society for designated donations of at least $1,000, debuted on ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Giving Day. Gifts through the Friends of Mickle Hall Society will help transform the beautiful home for the sciences at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ through the construction of a new Health Sciences Pavilion that will accommodate flexible classrooms and meeting areas, new state of the art laboratories, and a studio-format design for classrooms.
