¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ presents award to Rev. William "Wishy" Nolan
SHREVEPORT, LA — ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ president Dr. Christopher L. Holoman presented the 2018 George D. Nelson, Sr. Award for Lifetime Service to ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ College to Rev. William “Wishy” Nolan at the College’s annual Leadership Banquet held April 18 at the Petroleum Club in downtown Shreveport.
Nolan is a community philanthropist, clergyman, poet, photographer, author, and longtime supporter of and donor to ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ. A native of Morehouse Parish, he is a 1954 graduate of the College and played basketball for the Gents. He also attended the Perkins School of Theology and led several congregations in Louisiana throughout his career as a Methodist clergyman.
Nolan first served his alma mater in 1963 as the Director of Enrollment and Alumni Relations, and in 2004 he helped reinvigorate ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Alumni Association and served as its president. Nolan has also generously established four endowed scholarships at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ. In 2011, he was named to the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Alumni Hall of Fame in recognition of his altruism, support of, and advocacy for his beloved alma mater.
The George D. Nelson, Sr. Award for Lifetime Service to ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ College was established in recognition of those who freely and faithfully volunteer their time and serve ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ College as volunteer leaders.
