¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ to launch year-long bicentennial celebration in January 2025
SHREVEPORT, LA — ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ College will kick off 12 months of special events and gatherings celebrating its 200th anniversary with a campus “birthday party” on January 8, 2025. The date – 1.8.25 – honors 1825, the College’s founding year. ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ is the oldest higher education institution in the state of Louisiana and the oldest chartered liberal arts college west of the Mississippi River.
Bicentennial celebrations will run throughout the 2025 calendar year and include a special exhibit at the College’s Meadows Museum of Art, a festive neighborhood party during the Krewe of Highland Mardi Gras parade, an alumni trip to ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s original campus in Jackson, Louisiana, and a campus art stroll showcasing the talents of the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ community. The bicentennial commemoration concludes with a gala event, Spotlight ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ, in December 2025. A planning committee comprised of ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ alumni, faculty, staff, and students, along with community members, has been working for the past year to plan events and activities celebrating ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s bicentennial milestone.
